The varsity girls lacrosse team had a strong season this year, finishing 11-6 across 17 games and proving they could compete with some of the best teams in the state. Just sitting in the stands and hearing the environment this year showed how much the program has grown in popularity over the last couple of years.
The season started off hot with a massive 16-2 win over Oregon City on the road. That momentum carried into several key victories during the spring, including a 13-5 win over St. Mary’s and a narrow 7-6 battle against Hood River Valley. Even though the team hit a few rough patches early in the season against tough opponents like LOHS, Oregon Episcopal School, and Grant High School, they continued improving every game and started building momentum as the season went on, creating a strong foundation for the future.
One of the biggest highlights of the year came in late April, when the team exploded offensively and went on a five-game winning streak. During that stretch, they beat LOHS 20-7 in one of their most complete games of the season. The offense stayed unstoppable after that, scoring 18 goals against Oregon City, 20 against Bend, 18 against Summit, and 17 against St. Mary’s. In those five wins alone, the team scored an incredible 93 goals.
The team also had success against Wilsonville, beating them twice during the season. The first matchup ended in a dominant 17-4 win at home before the team followed it up with another solid 14-8 victory on the road.
Defensively, the team stepped up in several key moments throughout the year, helping secure close wins like the 7-6 battle against Hood River. The team also wrapped up the regular season with a strong 15-5 win over Ida B. Wells, showcasing their steady improvement throughout the year with plenty to be proud of.
Even in losses against strong programs like West Linn, the team continued to battle and improve. By the end of the season, the team had a winning record, several high-scoring performances and established itself as one of the most exciting and high-scoring teams around, continuing to build momentum for next year.
