Next year the LHS bell schedule will be slightly different from the current bell schedule. The goal of the new schedule change is to make it more convenient for students who travel to and from LOHS. However, students and teachers have different opinions on the change.
“I have to remember when I need to go to my seminar, when I need to sign up, when I need to go to advisory, how long TSCT is,” said junior Abby Lawler.
Many students expressed a negative feeling towards the new schedule changes. Specifically towards the timing of each activity like advisory and seminar.
“And I feel like there’s not as much freedom as what we had earlier,” said Lawler.
Students with an early release or late arrival might be affected due to the new schedule change as they have to adjust to fit to the new schedule.
Teachers and staff members expressed a positive attitude towards the new schedule change, teachers have shared some experience with the current bell schedules
“Since I go between high school and middle school. It will make it a little easier” said orchestra teacher Kristina Stingle
Students wanted a slight difference on the bell schedule if the schedule change is going to be implemented for the next school year.
“Maybe not having advisory like right after TSCT because I feel like that doesn’t really make sense because if you just had TSCT then you have to go to advisory.” said Lawler, “I feel like you should just either cancel TSCT in general and just have advisory or have advisory on like a Thursday or Friday or something like that, like after period, so like kind of like what we have for pace time.
However, the school board is still yet to finalize the bell schedule moving towards the governor’s executive order NO.26-06, enforcing schools to provide enough instructional time for student bell to bell in each school of Oregon.
