The LHS culinary class went on a trip to Spain, and is planning a trip to Switzerland and Italy. The Spain trip spanned from March 22-30, and Switzerland, Italy, and France on the following spring break (March 20 – 30, 2027). When thinking about traveling, many often enjoy the food and culture in those particular countries.
“We’re going to four different locations, and we’re going to see how the food differs, and we’re going to a bunch of farms,” said culinary teacher Jennifer Jillions.
Besides going to taste food and getting a feel of the culture, the culinary class will be learning about how different types of food will be made.
“We’re going to see how large a pan is made, and we’re going to be tasting like churros and tapas,” said Jillions.
More so, along with food tasting, the culinary students will also be taking classes to future broaden their experience with food.
“We’re taking cooking classes and just learning about how food is part of their culture,” said Jillions.
When students hear about the news of traveling to different countries, their overall reaction was thrilled about going to these places.
“They’ve been super excited about it. I think that it’s been kids that really appreciate food and love the process of cooking, and really respect that, but want to go try something else, and go to another country, and to see how, how what we do in here is so important all over the world,” said Jillions.
Both the students and teacher are very much looking forward to this upcoming trip in the summer. The culinary teacher is excited to see how students can experience different countries’ food cultures.
“And I think that they’re also really excited to bring that back home and try to incorporate it into their lives and see how maybe they grow and change, trying new things,” said Jillions.
Both staff and students are all excited about learning more culture within food in the four countries.
