Administrative Assistant Julie Batson puts in countless hours every year to ensure graduation requirements are met and that questions about LHS are answered.
Batson grew up just eight miles north of LHS, in Milwaukie, Oregon, where she recalled growing up just like LHS students, on the water with her dad and kids around the neighborhood.
Batson stayed in Portland as she attended the University of Portland after high school.
While at the University of Portland, Batson had her first of two kids. Her daughter happens to be an LHS alum who was active in the company and theater before going to Oregon State University. One of the things Batson enjoys most about working at LHS is the students.
Batson feels that the students here are incredibly polite and super easy to work with.
“I love the personality and fresh ideas that come out of students’ heads,” said Batson.
In Batson’s free time, she loves to cook; she has recently found a love for making Ethiopian food.
On her free days, she said that most of her time is filled with knitting, quilting, or even just having fun and relaxing with her grandchildren.
In Batson’s 26th year, we need to continue to show her the support that she deserves. So the next time you find yourself in the counseling office, introduce yourself and give her your thanks for all she does for us students, whom she cares so much about.
Make sure to give your appreciation to licensed staff during “licensed staff appreciation week”, the first week of May.
