A popular job is working at a summer camps or youth programs. These jobs not only provide a paycheck, but can also help students earn community service hours and building useful teaching and leadership skills.
Looking for these opportunities is simple, as the City of Lake Oswego offers youth leadership councils and certain camp counselor positions. You can also look further into other neighboring options via Portland Parks and Rec and Portland Community College.

For students that are motivated to try and get a job this summer, you should create a strong foundation through networking. It can start here at school by reaching out to your counselor or the career exploration board in the Donut.
“If you look in your LHS counseling Google Classroom, you can find a category for internships and jobs, in which you can find many different openings, including internships, job shadows, volunteer and summer opportunities,” said counselor Holly Poulivaati.
So make this summer both productive and rewarding, by getting yourself some money and valuable workplace experiences.
“I’ve already applied for three different jobs,” said sophomore Lucy Cliff. “It’ll be nice to have a job this summer.”
