As summer approaches, LHS students are deciding who they’ll vote for in what they see as the most important upcoming election. This may sound odd because most students aren’t 18, but you don’t have to be 18 to vote for your favorite couple on Love Island!

For those not keeping up, Love Island is a reality TV show streaming on Peacock where young adults travel to Fiji to find love with other cast members. Throughout the six weeks they stay, they take on a variety of challenges, and occasionally, a new contestant called a “bombshell” is introduced to disrupt existing couples.

Every Week someone gets voted off by the viewers. At the end of the show, there are 3 couples left, and we vote on which one is the best. The winners get 100,000 dollars.

This season there’s a whole new cast for students to keep up with. As students form new opinions on the various men and women they love to talk about, they decide who their favorite is.

“My favorite is definitely the new bombshell Corbin; he is really cute and is making the show more interesting because all the girls want him. He puts the Bomb in a bombshell,” said freshman Kaylee Bjorkgren.

“Casey and Sincere are definitely my favorite and the cutest. I’ll never vote them off,” said sophomore Channing Emmet.

Others who had previously liked the show are struggling to get into the new season and cast.

“This cast is just so boring. I want to watch it, but I can’t stay locked in, and now that I’m behind, it’s too much to get caught up.”said sophomore Lyla Ginebra.

New episodes come out every day except Wednesday, so struggling to keep up with them is totally understandable.

No matter your opinion on the show, the new season debut does mean one thing we can all love: Summer is here!
