To close out the year, Model United Nations went to the annual Oregon MUN conference, hosted at the University of Oregon in Eugene. The aim of the trip was to see how students handled MUN topics when given the opportunity to run the event themselves.
“The trip went pretty well,” said MUN leader Sarah Mock. “The students seemed to enjoy themselves a lot, and they handled themselves pretty well during the conferences.”
Both Mock and many students won awards during the trip, with Mock winning the Christine Allen Memorial Advisor award, only awarded to a singular teacher per year, and students such as Ben Kolman and Eliza Horey winning solo awards.
“It’s a great opportunity to learn public speaking skills and learn about different cultures,” said senior Finn Egge.
MUN is planning to go on the trip again next year.
