If a wide-eyed freshman year Lauren Fowler would have watched a film of my past four years she definitely would have been…confused. For starters, I have changed my hair color a whopping 10 times, all shades varying from brown to less brown. If that isn’t a testament to the amount of growth you go through in high school, I don’t know what is.
I probably only attended around five football games over four years. I never acknowledged spirit days, and no, I didn’t meet my high school sweetheart (have you seen the guys around here?). Instead of going out every weekend, I spent the most time competing at speech and debate tournaments — the best kind of nerds (me) know how to respect the balance.
But most of all, I never would have expected that I would be sitting in F-6, writing this. Through a class called “Newspaper,” I discovered that not only do I love to write, but I also love to learn. Hearing your stories and getting to learn about you has brought me more satisfaction than anything else I’ve done these past few years.
This past year has been the most fun, and I can’t thank Mrs. Schloetter enough for taking a chance on me. It has been my pleasure to act as dictator of the Newspacer. As much as the past four years were an absolute circus, I wouldn’t have had it any other way.
