Health Care for All Oregon high school student chapter is new to LHS this year, the club’s goal is to make health care more accessible for Oregonians. The club works with The Universal Healthcare Governors Board to create a plan for universal healthcare.
“If successful, a single payer system of healthcare will be enacted within the state of Oregon making it significantly less costly to achieve health care for every Oregonian,” said Healthcare for all club co-president, senior Jack Hampson.
Health care for all Oregon wants students to tell how the current healthcare system in the US has affected them.
“Our goal in the club is to help bring awareness of the cause to the youth, many of whom will reach voting age soon,” said Hampson.
Health care for all first statewide meeting is on Apr 19 via Zoom.
There are no requirements to join the club, announcements as to when meetings are announced through google classroom.

Period club is behind the period products drives, with drop boxes all around the school. The donated products get donated to a women’s shelter.
“There’s a lot of period poverty, especially in Portland, with all of like, the homeless people, and they don’t have access to like period products, and that can really damage a person’s dignity,” said Senior Zoe Brash president and treasurer of the period club.
Period club goes beyond just philanthropy.
“At Period club we don’t just hold hands and talk about our period, that’s what a lot of people think we do. We actually talk about a lot of stuff that’s not taught in our curriculum, but should be because a lot of women don’t know, or a lot of menstruators don’t even know what’s happening to their own body,” said Brash.
Period club meets in F8 on Mondays during TSCT.
