Being single in high school is often treated like a problem that needs fixing. But for many students, it’s a choice — and a smart one. Without the pressure, drama and expectations that come with relationships, being single can actually make high school more enjoyable.
Many students at LHS feel as if being in a relationship takes a lot of time, and they have to worry about lots of things.
“I think being single is less stressful because there’s less things to worry about, and you don’t have to worry about the other person,” said freshman London Capri-Larrea.
Being yourself while not having to worry about another person is very nice, especially when it’s your first year in high school.
“I would rather be focusing on my friends, school, and myself because I feel like, as a freshman, I’m so young, and I have lots of time to be in a relationship. Right now, I can grow myself so I can be ready in the future,” said Capri-Larrea.
While being a junior, you get a little more experience under your belt, and you kinda know the way around being single in high school. Junior Dorian Booth has a different but similar opinion to Capri-Larrea.
“It’s less stressful because your days are more structured and you have a lot more time for school-related things like homework and sports,” said Booth.
