You can’t stay unemployed forever, and it’s good to have some job experience. Regal Cinemas is a great place for teenagers to start at, and there are a few fellow LHS students who work there.
“It’s not an especially difficult job,” said junior Juliet Nash-Rubin, an employee at Regal Bridgeport Village. “There’s a lot of things to learn, but once you get the hang of them, everything becomes super low stress.”
Despite being a part-timer, working there can get you a few benefits. The most well-known benefit is the nine free movies that an employee can use and share. They also get half off concessions.
“We can get free movie posters every month, but only when the movie stops showing in the theater,” said senior Aura Espinoza, an employee at Regal.
But for these benefits, the employees have to deal with the late hours, even on a school night.
“We can work till midnight or three in the morning,” said Espinoza. “It really depends on what’s showing at the time. Like when ‘Jurassic World’ came out, we stayed until three in the morning.”
Additionally, Regal Cinemas understands the importance of school for students while maintaining good work ethics.
“They allow employees to go on school leave,” Nash-Rubin said. “So you can take anywhere from weeks to the whole school year off as long as you return over breaks.”
Regal will also give their employees some extra money if they do certain things, like work on a holiday.
“We do these charity events where if an employee gets a certain amount of donations towards their charities, they can get gift cards, which I personally enjoy,” said Espinoza.
