The LOSD announced that LHS will be getting a new principal effective at the end of winter break, which was announced on Dec. 11, 2025.
“We are pleased to share that Kevin Mills has been appointed the new principal of Lakeridge High School, beginning Jan. 1, 2026,” said LOSD Superintendent, Dr. Jennifer Schiele, in an email to the community.
Mills has over 17 years of education and school leadership experience, coming from the principal role at LOJ. After serving at LOJ for eight years, Mills is excited to leave the Sailors behind and join the Pacer family.
“I enjoy being in schools, seeing [kids] succeed and working with them,” said Kevin Mills, new principal. “Don’t hesitate to come say ‘Hi’ to me…I’m going to do my best to be out and about.”
For almost a week, LHS was supported by an interim administrator, Lou Bailey, someone whose path into education has been shaped by mentors, opportunities and a long history of working with students.
Before entering the field of education, Bailey, the Executive Director of Secondary Schools in the LOSD, played hockey for 20 years. His interest in education began in high school.
“I got inspired by my English teacher,” said Bailey, who remained in contact with her for many years after university.
That influence guided him through college, where he earned a degree in teaching and English. This ultimately launched his career as an English teacher in California. Now living in Oregon, he has been working for the LOSD for eight years, where he is now the Executive Director of Secondary Schools at the LOSD district office.
“I am currently in a temporary position until winter break,” said Bailey.
