“Should I stay or should I go?” is what many burnt-out “Stranger Things” fans asked themselves with the new release of part one of season five. This season follows the cast as they near the end of their fight against monsters from the Upside Down, while evading government agents.
The first four episodes came out Nov. 26, just before Thanksgiving. The next three come out Dec. 25, and the last one, which will also be available in select theaters, comes out on Dec. 31.
“Season five could end up being my favorite season,” said senior Henry Lindekugel. “The tone has changed, but I think it couldn’t have stayed the same the whole time.”
But with so much content out there, some viewers are concerned that the show is getting too stretched out.
“I thought that they were gonna be done after like, the first three seasons,” said sophomore Enid Rittman. “And then now there’s two more.”
Perhaps the most controversial new addition to the “Stranger Things” universe is “The First Shadow,” a Broadway play that directly ties into the fifth season, giving backstory to Vecna.
“I think it’s dumb that only people who can afford to fly across the country get to see the story of the main villain,” said Lindekugel. “And I’ve heard about a bunch of plot holes it created.”
Despite the long waits between seasons and the fact that all the child actors are adults now, many fans are choosing to “stay” rather than “go.”
