Magic School Bus: “The Family Holiday Special”
The childhood classic show that has everyone “Cruising on down Main Street” has an episode that celebrates both Christmas and Hanukkah while teaching the importance of recycling.
As the town prepares for the holidays, the students in Ms. Frizzles’ class sort the recyclable materials and take their bus to a recycling center. There, one student recycles another student’s nutcracker, destroying it.
This causes the student to be upset and say that recycling is useless. So Ms. Frizzle drives the students around and undoes the recycling around the city with a bus beam.
From this, they learn that many things are made of recycled materials: their local park, the bus, their newspapers and how damaged the environment can get from trash.
After their fun adventures, the students celebrate recycling and the holidays together.
