Move over, pumpkin spice–fall fashion is stealing the spotlight this season, bringing back beloved trends to LHS that are
nostalgic and fashion-forward.
Old fall colors are everywhere this year. Brown is making its comeback as the staple neutral yet again, but it’s not just one shade. Stores are bringing back chestnut, saddle brown and
chocolate tones.
From boots to trench coats, brown is back. Maroon is also on its climb up the trend charts with features at Altar’d State, Hollister and Brandy Melville. Color palettes this year pair well with gold jewelry and creamy knitwear.
“It’s the same thing as last year,” said junior Aubrie Dascomb. “Lots of Uggs and brown.”
Accessories, bags and boots are showing up more and more at LHS. Backpacks are long gone and replaced by Longchamp’s Original Tote Bag, Marc Jacobs’ The Tote Bag and even thrifted shoulder bags students fi nd. Sneakers are also out and replaced by knee high, Adidas sneakers, and the classic Ugg boots that dominate the halls.
“I want to see more skirt and boot combos,” said senior Amelia Nieland. “Not just jeans.”
Layering is also on the rise. Oversized sweaters with collared shirts underneath, short sleeves layered over long sleeves and
chunky sweaters showing up on Pinterest boards and at LHS.
This layered look keeps the cozy vibe while still feeling put together.
Even Halloween is influencing fall fashion this year.
“Halloween costume ideas” is a trending search on Instagram and TikTok this year, with many influencers giving their take on who and what people should be.
“You’ve got the iconic princesses,” said influencer Emma Jordyn. “You could be any princess you want and there are so many to choose from.”
Fall fashion this year is proof that sometimes, old favorites never go out of style, and a little nostalgia can make the season
extra special.
