Fans at LHS are buzzing as the pop star Taylor Swift once again takes over playlists and headlines after she dropped her new album on Oct. 3.
“The Life of a Showgirl” shows her fans a peek behind the curtain she was on her bestselling Eras Tour. The album lets people know the ins and outs and ups and downs of what happens behind the scenes of a public performance.
Specifically mentioning, “When I said I don’t believe in marriage, that was a lie,” giving us insight into her life with Travis Kelce, whom she recently got engaged to. Giving us more intel into her love life.
LHS history teacher Amber Horey is a well-known Swiftie at the school. Who likes to discuss the meaning of lyrics
This album is said to capture a mix of joyful, fun, and bubbly feelings, while also highlighting the low points of her tour. In the song “Honey,” she
mentions “ When you say honey.” Which is what her fiancé calls her, highlighting a sweet memory between her and Kelce.
“We all need something to rally around right now,” said Horey. “I will also enjoy singing along with a bunch of other Swifties.”
“The Life of a Showgirl” is more glittery and upbeat, giving people something to dance in their rooms or scream to the top of their lungs in the car with friends! One certain song you could blast in the car is “Opalite”; it’s upbeat and fun.
Junior Eleanor Kuhns agrees that there is a noticeable difference in the tone of the albums.
“I think the ‘Life of a Showgirl’ is full of energy and a quicker tempo than her most recent albums,” said Kuhns.
Besides Swift letting her audience backstage of the Eras Tour, she also had a shift from what her last album was saying.
This time, it’s more of a joyful and vibrant tone, whereas her last album was sad and heartfelt. “The Tortured Poets Department” was more about heartbreak and bad relationships. Singing more towards her previous romantic relationships. “The Life of a Showgirl” is more about how life has gotten happier.
