The LHS girls flag football team is off to a promising start this year, showing early signs of growth, teamwork and strong potential as they continue to develop their skills on the field.
So far, the team has already secured 3 wins, setting a positive tone for the rest of the season.
Senior Margot Armerding noted that the team has been looking strong overall, especially with the addition of many new talented players.
“So far the team has been looking good,” said Armerding. “There are a lot of new talented players.”
One of the biggest strengths of the team this year, according to Armerding, is their play design and execution.
“I would say this year we definitely have a strength in our complex and detailed plays,” said Armerding.
As the season continues, she emphasized that success will depend on everyone learning and executing their roles.
“I think we will succeed if everyone takes initiative to learn their parts in the plays so we can become an offensive powerhouse,” said Armerding.
While the season is still in its early stages, the team is already focused on key matchups ahead, including tough games against Barlow and LO.
Despite the challenge, both Armerding and senior Addison Goerges remain confident that the team can compete at a high level.
“If we keep our grit and put in the effort at practice, we can definitely take the W,” said Armerding.
Armerding also shared excitement for upcoming moments in the season, especially senior night and playing against LOHS. Beyond competition, she highlighted what makes the experience meaningful.
“It’s so fun to learn something new with a team. We have all gotten to learn together by experience which is super cool,” said Armerding.
Goerges had similar thoughts about the team’s early progress, describing the season as one of steady improvement.
“It’s been good. Slow, but noticeable progress. It’s a season where everyone is just learning,” said Goerges.
One player who has already made an impact is Armerding herself, according to Goerges, who praised her performance and leadership.
“Margot has stepped up and she has been throwing really well, after losing our quarterback Nahla Nelson last year,” she said.
Above all, Goerges hopes players leave the season with positive experience.
As the season continues, the team is focused on building chemistry, improving execution and turning their early progress into long-term success.
Pacers are encouraged to come out and support the team at their upcoming games this season.
