The swim team is not only about crushing the competition but also about making new friends along the way. The pacers have been showing their success all year, losing only one meet against Oregon City.
What makes the team a welcoming and amazing community is the coaches and the players.
“It is a really good community that we have built,” said sophomore Carson Rollins. “It is super fun, and there’s a lot of energy.”
The team’s new coaching staff is working hard to improve performance at swim meets and create an energetic atmosphere. Hence, the swimmers feel engaged and ready to jump into any practice, whether early in the morning or late at night after a tiring day of school.
Coaches have also been helping the club’s swimmers at Lakeridge. With less time to practice with the team, the coaches have been doing a great job, making time for these hard-working club swimmers.
With the swim team being so close-knit and having a successful season last year, the coaching staff change has been tough, but it has allowed the team to bring in more players and have a successful season.
“There are a lot more coaches this year, so they come in on different days and help us improve on certain things, and they are super successful themselves,” said sophomore Clara Surrat.
There have also been some new faces on the swim team this year, with the graduating Class of 2029 joining, along with some new upperclassmen. The new additions to the team have been leading to more successful results at meets, as evidenced by their wins over Tigard, St. Mary’s and Tualatin.
