The LHS cross country team brought home the hardware this year, including a state championship.
Chloe Huyler got first in state with a time of 17:11, and senior Hannah Huyler got 4th with a time of 17:48. Overall, the girls varsity team won third in state.
Beckett Godfrey also ran in the boys state race, earning 84th place.
“We’re the fastest boys varsity team in Lakeridge history,” said junior Matthew Rodrigano. “Everyone performed well.”
After state, Chloe Huyler won first place at 17:00:0 in her 5K at NXR, Northwest Regional Championships, which was in Idaho on Nov. 16.
“Districts was definitely showing that we have a very young team, and we need to work harder next year,” said Rodrigano. “The other teams really brought it and I think we should step up our training.”
In the TRL district meet, Chloe Huyler won at 16:32, while Hannah Huyler got fourth place at 17:15.
As of now, Chloe Huyler is an undefeated champion. She is next slated to run as an individual at Nike Cross Nationals on Dec. 8.
Even though the season has ended, it doesn’t mean the athletes get to rest.
“We’re gonna continue training as a team throughout the winter,” said Rodrigano. “We’re going to keep building the community that we’ve already established.”
