With a nine win start, both LHS boys and girls varsity soccer teams are well on their way to playoffs. The boys are currently no. 2 in the state rankings with an 10-2 record, and are looking to keep their position in the OSAA 6A state rankings going into the playoff s.
“We’ve won almost all our games so far, but to keep our momentum going into playoffs, we’re practicing just as hard every day,” said varsity senior defender Jairus Barnes.
Barnes and the team are satisfied with their performance so far, but are looking to improve their play as much as possible before playoffs.
“We’re off to a great start this season and have beaten many formidable teams so far, but our end goal is still to
win state,” said junior Daylon Wood.
“Our only real opponent to stop us from getting there is ourselves.”
The girls team is also making their bid for a top spot in the playoffs with a record of 10-2 and a 4th-place placement in the current OSAA 6A state rankings.
“We may be a young team, but we’re full of talent,” said senior Alaina Gates. “I love this group, and I truly believe we have the chance to do something special this season,”
Playoff s start Nov. 2 for both teams, and both are currently set up to perform well in playoffs based on the current projected bracket.
Both teams have the skill set to win state, but students need to show up and show out on Oct. 23 for the boys game against Lake Oswego and the girls game against West Linn on Oct. 28 to give LHS the best possible chance to sweep state for soccer.
