From playing on varsity his freshman year, to being injured for both his sophomore and junior years, and dominating during his senior year, Marcus Post’s football journey is a road of perseverance.
Marcus Post began playing tackle football in 6th grade when his two friends convinced him to play football. Quickly, he began to accelerate onto the scene. Entering his freshman season Post earned a spot on varsity, playing safety and receiver, where he recorded 26 receptions for 217 yards, and 58 tackles.
After getting injured during his sophomore and junior seasons, this year Marcus’ debut vs Sandy is the best game of his high school career. In the victory against Sandy he recorded 113 yards, three touchdowns with six tackles. This season, he has 178 yards, four touchdowns, and 14 tackles in only three games. With these stats, he’s on track to pass his career highs very soon. But for him, the stats are just a number.
“I don’t think there’s any sport that’s more team reliant than football,” said Post. He explained how his favorite part of football is the team aspect. It’s not just his athletics that earns him recognition. Marcus’ coaches are also quick to praise his character. “Since he’s been here, he’s probably worked as hard as anyone on the team all year round,” said offensive coordinator Art Cabalin. “[Marcus] has always been a leader by example.”
With only a few games left in the season, Marcus hopes to make a run to the state championship with his teammates, coaches and friends.
