Everyone keep your seatbelts fastened until we reach cruising altitude. Our destinations are Italy and France, which just so happen to be the same places LHS students and staff visited this summer.
The Italy trip, led by history teacher Brittany Larson, had lots of teacher chaperones including math teacher Drew Larson, English teacher John Bass, history teachers Ryan Inahara, Amber Horey, Janell Cinquini and Natalie Shevlin as well as biology teacher Matthew Briggs.
“As a history teacher, being able to go to a place where every corner that you turn around seemingly has this unbelievably important historical site that has been around for hundreds of years, is like a dream come
true,” said Inahara.
Europe is the most popular continent for tourism, and the LHS travelers weren’t disappointed. The Italy trip traveled across the country visiting a range of cities from Florence to Rome.
“Ending the trip in Sorrento and Capri down by the ocean, and being able to see a beautiful, oceanside city town in Italy was breathtaking,” said Inahara.
Finally, there is the food.
“Being able to see the joy on Mr. Larson’s face when he dug into the steak that he’d been looking forward to all trip was amazing,” said Inahara.
Similarly, on the France trip chaperoned by French teacher Amy Ryan, Pacers and staff got to visit many famous sites and wonders.
“[We saw the] Eiffel Tower in Paris, and then we went on the Seine for a sunset cruise,” said senior Emma Giles.
The itinerary also gave students an opportunity to explore a variety of cities taking in the full gambit of Francophone culture.
As we begin our descent back to Lake Oswego and the school year, there are more trips to look forward to. This spring break, culinary arts teacher Jen Jillions is taking students to Spain, and ASL teacher Melissa Cochran is taking students to France in the summer.
