LHS winter and spring sports have already started training and preparing for the upcoming season. Athletes in baseball, track and field, snowboarding and basketball are looking forward to seeing what this season brings.
“I’m looking forward to having fun on the mountain with my friends and having something to look forward to in the winter,” said senior snowboarder Ainsley Mackenzie.
With winter sports season approaching, the snowboard and ski team are starting to bring out their equipment.
Depending when on the mountains open, the LHS snowboarding team will start training there as soon as possible.
Girls and boys basketball and the wrestling team are also starting their season
“Our practice schedule looks like Thursday nights when we leave school early, and then both Saturdays and Sundays,” said Mackenzie.
Even though spring is still far away, the LHS baseball team already started training right when school began. The baseball team shows discipline and dedication considering they have morning practice every school day at 6:15 a.m.
“I think we have the talent, and the boys put in a lot of hard work, so I think the hard work is going to pay off this year,” said coach Nathan Smyly.
“We have to do weightlifting four days a week,” said senior Tyler Truong. “We also have yoga on Wednesdays.”
The baseball team is feeling confident and have great expectations for the upcoming season.
“I think we will win the state this year,” said Truong.
“We’re hoping to win the League. That’s always our first goal is to win the TRL and to make a deep run in the state,” said Smyly.
Registration is open for winter sports at the LHS Athletics website.
