The Pacers football team ended their season more united than ever—truly as a family.
The Pacers had a bye week during the first round of playoffs but ultimately lost in the quarterfinals to No. 5-ranked Central Catholic, with a final score of 40-17. Despite the loss, LHS ended with an impressive 7-3 overall record at the end of the season.
Key players this year were quarterback Drew Weiler, wide receiver Charlie Coyne and tight end Jacob Zawadzki. Each of these athletes showed leadership on the field and made huge contributions to the team’s performance.
One of the Pacers’ greatest strengths was their bond, especially among the 18 seniors who led by example. Their bond motivated every player to give their all.
“It was a great group of guys,” said sophomore running back Austin Callaway.
The team truly was one big family and worked hard to push each other to be the best on and off the field.
“They truly embody the idea of family and are always looking out for one another,” coach Spencer Phillips said.
They watched game film to fine-tune their strategy, ensuring that every player understood their role.
“They know the hard work they’ve put in and want to make the most of each opportunity,” said Phillips. “We remind them to enjoy these moments, knowing that they’ve earned the chance to compete at this level.”
Throughout the season, the Pacers achieved big wins, like the 55-3 win over Barlow and 27-20 game at Mountainside. Their defensive strength was a key factor in games like 36-0 against Oregon City. However, they also are strong offensively with a 33-22 victory over Tualatin.
In every challenge they faced, the LHS football team showed dedication, resilience, and a passion for football—qualities that will keep inspiring future Pacers.
