LHS parking lot
LHS has issued new parking rules, making some people unhappy. There are no more assigned spots, and it’s a first come first serve in the the white parking spots. The yellow spots are for staff only, and the blue spots are for people who have volunteered for special events.
After 9:55 a.m., anyone can park in the white numbered spots with or without a parking pass.
“Now there isn’t a senior or a junior lot,” said assistant principal Sally Farrell. “It’s just that seniors got first dibs on parking permits.”
These changes were made as a result of multiple problems with the previous parking rules, such as unused open spots or parking confusion.
“One student would park in the wrong spot, and then there would be this domino effect of all these students ending up having to park in different spots,” said Farrell.
This led to people having to park in the streets.
“Probably every day there were students that were parking in the wrong spot, and so that’s why there’s not assigned numbers, just any white numbered spot is a student spot,” said Farrell.
Despite their attempt to solve problems, there has been some disagreement with the modifications. Senior Abby Douglas is not a fan of these updates, specifically the 9:55 a.m. rule which made it difficult for her to find a parking spot with late arrival.
“I paid for a parking pass, and half the time when I get here, after late arrival, before 9:55, almost all the spots are taken because people are parking without a parking pass before 9:55 anyway,” said Douglas.
