“Up The Down Staircase”

“Up The Down Staircase,”  an LHS play that features an incredible cast presenting the story of a young English teacher on her first days of teaching high school, had their opening night this week with more shows to come.

“Unfortunately for her [the English teacher], she has no idea what waits for her in the classroom on that first day,” senior Sydney Jordan said. “She slowly learns how to be a better teacher.”

Jordan is playing the leading role of English teacher Sylvia Barrett. While preparing and rehearsing for the play, her favorite part of working on the show is the people that she works with.

“Everyone works so hard to put this show together,” Jordan said. “What it really boils down to is a fun show that I get to do with my friends.”

If you’re thinking about going to see “Up The Down Staircase,” there are shows on Feb. 10 and Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. and two shows on Feb. 12 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at the Pacer Drama website or at the door before the show. Each ticket is $8-$10.

“I think people should come watch the show to see just how much fun we all have,” Jordan said. “We have all put in a lot for this show and I think the audience will enjoy it.”
