Seniors compete in the final challenge of the 'Amazing Pace.'
You may have heard of the world renowned show “The Amazing Race” but have you heard of The Amazing Pace? Starting on May 18 LHS hosted the Amazing Pace.
“The Amazing Race” is a reality game show where teams of two race around the world while taking on challenges to get to the finish line for the grand prize of one million dollars.
While the winning team of the Amazing Pace may not get a million dollar prize the top three teams get medals and bragging rights for life. The Amazing Pace is composed of ten teams of two seniors who participate in a series of challenges like races, scavenger hunts and mini games.
“I watched the ‘Amazing Race’ in real life and wanted to do it with a friend.” said Avery Schulz, a member of the black team.
Each team is assigned a color to represent them for the entire game. The teams from this year are Avery Shultz and Mackenzie Angel, black; Brett Seely and Tate O’Hallaren, green; Abby Dixon and Sydney Stewart, grey; Charlie Wakefield and Sean McCarty, orange; Nolan Darcy and Charlie Coyne, pacer blue; Jake Kotansky and Davis Reardon, pink; Emma Massari and Avery French, purple; Tate Williams and Brandon Tysowsky, red; Skye Forseth and Annie Jeffery, royal blue; and Brooklyn Carlson and Sara Engle, yellow. The challenges lasted five days and happened at different times like before school and during lunch.
“The very first challenge we did where we had to push each other around on scooters in the donut, we all crashed into each other.” said Schulz
The teams must submit a video application to be selected by the ASB advisors in order to participate in the game. This entire event is organized and run by spirit director, Koyume O’Doherty with the help of ASB students.
“Everyone’s been very helpful. It’s a very fun event and I hope it continues to be a thing in the future!” said O’Doherty.
The winning team, Jack Kotanksy and Davis Reardon, were announced after the final challenge on May 22.
