After the varsity boys tennis team ranked 10th in the state last year and the varsity girls sent a doubles pair to the second round, this year both LHS teams are ready to get there again and make a racquet.
“I hope to make it to state this year,” said Remington Acevedo, a sophomore on the boys team. “It’s kind of a reach, but I think if I work really hard I can get there.”
According to the boys’ coach, Chuck Eidenschink, in the past they were usually in the top five at state, so this year the boys are looking forward to returning to that previous level of skill.
“But the main thing is for everyone to get better and enjoy the game,” Eidenschink said.
A member of the girls team since her freshman year, junior Kat Papasouliotis is looking forward to playing in this positive environment as well. She not only loves playing on the team, but also the relationships she gains from it.
“My favorite part of being on the team is getting to build relationships with girls in every grade at our school,” said Papasouliotis.
As the season ramps up and state gets closer and closer in sight, the teams will be displaying their Pacer spirit by working hard to grow and having fun while doing it.
